Keeping It Simple!

Here’s a bit of an introductory post to the Keeping It Simple series of articles. If you’ve recently found yourself bitten by the running bug, or if you’ve just started on your running journey (the bite is coming and that bug bites hard!) you’ll no doubt have started to follow a few running pages on social media. You’ll be discovering podcasts, you’re your bookshelves may soon start to sag under the weight of all those running books you’ve stumbled upon in your local second-hand bookshop. You’ll have started to notice that running has a language all of its own as you hear people talking about things like fat adaptation, VO2max, heart rate training, carb loading, proprioception.. ad infinitum.

There’ll be the nay-sayers and the cheerleaders, and its easy to become overwhelmed with the mountains of contradictory advice you’ll find. I think its all too easy to overcomplicate things, so with this series I’m going to attempt to break down some of the jargonistic information into more readily digestible chunks and simplify the theory behind it all.
