We are a social enterprise operating as a Community Interest Company. Our primary remit is to offer group run coaching to people who may be experiencing mental health challenges, through referrals via the governments social prescription initiative.
Although running is our focus, we also offer other outdoor activities such as guided walks and themed walks. We hope to extend the range of activities on offer as we grow.
We generate income through grants, donations, and ‘pay-for’ events. We hope to increase the frequency and variety of the ‘pay-for’ options so that we can develop a more sustainable business model, relying less and less on external funding as we grow. This will enable us to keep the referral scheme free at the point of use, and offer subsidised places on our events to those on the scheme and to people on low incomes.
Charging also means we can bring in external providers to deliver specialist events, such as history walks, map-reading skills, maybe the odd caving trip! Visit our events page to see what’s on offer and book your place.
Unfortunately, we don’t accept self-referrals for the group running scheme but the ‘pay-for’ events are open to all.
The primary reason for this is so that we can prioritise people who have reached out to healthcare providers. We believe that engaging in physical activity whilst making use of green spaces should be considered as part of a holistic treatment plan, and not a substitute for specialist care. We are not qualified to treat or counsel but we do draw from our collective lived experiences, and with that we hope to form good working relationships with those who refer their clients, and with clients themselves.
It also helps us better safeguard our participants. It can be challenging interacting with people when you are struggling, so creating an environment comprising people with similar experiences will encourage peer support.
If you feel you would benefit from being on our scheme, don’t hesitate to contact your GP, therapist or other healthcare provider, and ask for a referral. For further information, visit our contact page. We’d love to hear from you.
Our aim is to be as inclusive as possible, therefore we will do our best to make adjustments where we can. Drop us a line so that we can discuss your needs and explore accommodations. We are always open to suggestions as to how we can make our activities more accessible.
The best way would be to sign-up to one of our activities or events. You’ll get to experience what we offer, safe in the knowledge that your participation will help fund the referral scheme, allowing us to continue supporting people with mental health challenges.
