Around one in four people will experience a mental health problem each year in England and Wales. That’s about 15 million people a year. Only a third of those individuals will be receiving treatment*.
Mental Health services in England and Wales are overstretched and underfunded. This can make accessing treatment in a timely manner, a difficult and convoluted process.
Heads for Trails exists to offer a means of better managing mental wellbeing through connection with nature and physical movement; two areas that have been shown to have a positive impact on wellbeing. We offer group coaching sessions in mindful, efficient, off-road running with the focus being on movement through nature. We are not interested in pace or times. It’s about being present in the moment and connecting with the natural environment. We aim to equip people with the skills and confidence needed to safely hit the trails whenever they feel the need to reconnect.
Although our primary focus is on trail running, we do offer walks, and we tailor our sessions to suit all abilities.
As a Director, you will help shape the future of Heads for Trails. You will help build an organisation that is financially sustainable, legally compliant, and continually evolving so that we might serve the community better.
Enthusiasm and commitment are two qualities we value. In the absence of relevant experience, a willingness to learn, and above all, a desire to commit time and energy into the company will be considered.
We believe in equal opportunities and value diversity, therefore we welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and experiences.
Please note: this is a voluntary, unpaid position. We will reimburse relevant expenses where considered reasonable. As part of our commitment to building a sustainable business model, there may be opportunity for paid employment in the future..
